In The Misery Index season 1 episode 6, titled "We Got That D!", two teams of contestants come face to face with some of the most cringe-worthy and emotionally gutting scenarios, as they aim to determine how miserable and unfortunate these situations truly are.
In this episode, the teams include best friends who will stop at nothing to win and a father-daughter duo who use their close relationship to guide their decision-making. In each round, they are presented with a scenario that has been given a "Misery Index" score based on how miserable people generally feel when presented with the same situation.
The round one scenario involves a man who spent a night in jail after drinking too much and mistakenly stealing a car he thought was his. The competitors must determine if this scenario is more or less miserable than other scenarios, like eating an entire stick of butter or waiting in line for hours at the DMV.
In round two, a mother admits to mistakenly giving her child's teacher a sexy lingerie outfit instead of a gift card as a present during the holidays. The teams must decide if this scenario is more or less miserable than being stuck in traffic for hours or getting a flat tire on the way to an important job interview.
The final round is the "Misery Countdown," in which the teams must correctly order three scenarios from least to most miserable. The scenarios include a man who accidentally drops his wedding band in a port-a-potty, a woman who discovers her husband is a furry, and a man who got stuck in a cow fence.
Throughout the episode, the teams are guided by the show's hosts, Jameela Jamil and the Tenderloins comedy troupe, who offer witty commentary and humorous insights into the scenarios presented. Viewers at home can play along and compare their scores to the contestants, as each round's winner earns a cash prize and the chance to play in the final round for a $30,000 grand prize.
In this episode, "We Got That D!", the teams must decide how miserable each scenario truly is, using their own experiences and gut instincts to determine the most accurate "Misery Index" score.
