Ep 2. Episode 2

The Moodys Season 1 Episode 2 kicks off with the Moody family trying to salvage a Christmas that's gone awry for them. No one is in a festive mood, with Ann, the matriarch of the family, trying to keep everything together amidst several issues that have cropped up. Sean, the only son, is mourning the loss of his girlfriend while Dan, the eldest son, is in a bad place with his girlfriend Cora. Meanwhile, Bridget, the only daughter, has a secret she's been keeping from her family.

The episode begins with Dan and Cora arguing about their lack of sex life. Sean walks in, still drunk from the night before, and the three of them engage in a heated discussion. Ann walks in and sends Sean to bed before trying to intervene in Dan and Cora's argument. They come to the conclusion that they should go to counseling.

The next day, Ann is still trying to make the best of the situation, decorating the house for Christmas. Bridget tells her she's going to work but sneaks out to do something else. Sean wakes up feeling sorry for himself before heading to his job at a toy store, where he takes his sadness out on the merchandise. Meanwhile, Dan and Cora go to their first therapy session, where they argue over who's to blame for their lack of intimacy.

Ann runs into her neighbor Roger on her way to the grocery store, and they end up having a conversation about their respective families. Back at home, Bridget walks in with a new haircut, but Ann is too preoccupied with her own issues to notice. Sean returns from work, and Ann tries to get him to open up about his feelings, but he just wants to be left alone.

The family gathers for dinner, but the mood is tense. Bridget is avoiding eye contact with everyone, while Sean is still wallowing in his own self-pity. Dan and Cora are still at odds, despite their therapy session. After dinner, Ann and Bridget have a heart-to-heart talk, and Bridget finally opens up about her secret.

The episode ends with the Moody family going to bed, with each member lost in their own thoughts and emotions. The holidays have brought out the worst in them, but there's still a glimmer of hope that things might get better.
