The Parables of Jesus is a biblical TV series that explores the teachings of Jesus through the use of parables. Each episode focuses on a different parable and delves into its significance and how it can be applied to the lives of modern-day Christians. In season 1, episode 12, titled "Parable of the Talents," viewers are taken on a journey through the parable of the talents as told in the book of Matthew.

The episode begins with Jesus gathering his disciples around him and telling them the parable of the talents. He speaks of a man who, before leaving on a journey, entrusts his slaves with varying amounts of money. To one he gives five talents, to another he gives two talents, and to another he gives one talent. The man then goes away on his journey, leaving his slaves to manage the money he has entrusted to them.

The focus of the parable is on the actions of the three slaves and their use of the talents. The slave who was given five talents immediately went and put the money to work, earning an additional five talents. The slave who was given two talents also put the money to work and earned an additional two talents. However, the slave who was given one talent buried it in the ground and did nothing with it.

When the man returned from his journey, he called upon his slaves to account for their management of the talents. The first slave, who had earned an additional five talents, presented the man with ten talents in total. The man was pleased with his efforts and praised him for his hard work, saying, "Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master's joy!" The same compliments were given to the second slave.

But when the third slave presented his master with only the single talent he had been given, the man was angry. He scolded the slave for not doing anything with the talent, saying, "You wicked, lazy slave! If you knew that I reap where I haven't sown and gather where I haven't scattered, then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and I would have received my money back with interest when I returned."

The parable of the talents is a powerful exploration of the concept of stewardship and the importance of using the gifts and resources we have been given for the glory of God. In the episode, viewers are encouraged to reflect on the talents they have been blessed with and to consider how they can use them to further the kingdom of God.
