Watch The Ren & Stimpy Show

Originally conceived in the mind of John Kricfalusi, The Ren & Stimpy Show is a cartoon that straddles the line between the typical slapstick of a children's cartoon and something aimed more at adults. It follows the adventures of the two titular characters, Ren Hoek, the anxiety-ridden chihuahua, and his not so sharp companion, Stimpson J. Cat.

Produced in a serialized fashion, each episode brings a new story to the series, though certain characters are often recurring. Ren and Stimpy find themselves tied up with the fates of such memorable characters as Mr. Horse and Powdered Toast Man. Many of the characters in the show are also voiced by famous people such as Frank Zappa, Phil Hartman and Mark Hamil. The show also uses a very diverse selection of music for its soundtrack, from pop to jazz to its own made up songs.

The adventures that Ren & Stimpy have are often erratic and confusing and sometimes border on the surreal. The wacky and chaotic nature of the show makes it perfect for kids while the subtext that lies beneath keeps the adult crowd engaged. The Ren & Stimpy show has also been given credit for having a direct influence on many of today's successful kids' shows.
