In this emotional episode of Wilderness Vet, Dr. Michelle Oakley travels to a remote village in the Yukon Territory to help a sled dog team. The team's leader, a husky named Alaska, has been injured and is unable to continue racing. The owners, a family who rely on the team for their livelihood, have asked Dr. Oakley to assess Alaska's condition and provide any necessary treatment.

Upon arriving at the village, Dr. Oakley is greeted by the family and their pack of sled dogs. She quickly gets to work examining Alaska, who has a swollen leg and is unable to put weight on it. After conducting a thorough exam, Dr. Oakley determines that Alaska has a torn muscle and will require surgery to repair it.

Despite the family's financial limitations, Dr. Oakley is determined to give Alaska the treatment he needs. She enlists the help of a local vet and uses ingenuity and resourcefulness to improvise a surgical suite in the family's garage. With her team assembled and makeshift operating room prepped, Dr. Oakley performs the surgery on Alaska, while the family anxiously waits outside.

After the surgery, Dr. Oakley provides the family with instructions for Alaska's post-operative care and leaves the village, hoping that she was able to provide the help that the sled dog team needed. Over the next few weeks, Dr. Oakley stays in touch with the family to monitor Alaska's progress and provide any necessary guidance.

Throughout the episode, Dr. Oakley reflects on the incredible bond between the family and their sled dogs, and the vital role that these animals play in the remote communities of the Yukon Territory. As she treats Alaska and interacts with the other sled dogs, Dr. Oakley gains a greater appreciation for their hard work and the harsh conditions that they face.

As viewers follow Dr. Oakley on her journey, they are treated to stunning views of the rugged Yukon wilderness, as well as heartwarming moments between the sled dogs and their owners.
