Mike Huckabee Trashes Engaged Best Actress Winner Natalie Portman for 'Out-of-Wedlock Pregnancy'

Natalie Portman has been visibly giddy since announcing her pregnancy with fiancé Benjamin Millepied, who choreographed the Oscar-nominated "Black Swan."

But former presidential candidate and current Fox News pundit Mike Huckabee isn't impressed with the fact that the two are engaged and appear to be completely in love: in a radio interview on "The Michael Medved Show," Huckabee attacked Portman for setting a bad example by having a child out of wedlock.

“There aren’t really a lot of single moms out there who are making millions of dollars every year for being in a movie. And I think it gives a distorted image,” Huckabee said in the interview, "that’s the story that we’re not seeing, and it’s unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of-wedlock children.”

There would be the slimmest chance that Huckabee could have a valid point, if it weren't for the fact that Portman isn't single. She's engaged to be married, and she and Millepied obviously trust and love each other enough to begin with having a child before the marriage is official. Perhaps that whole "trust and love" thing isn't something Huckabee is familiar with.

Of course, Huckabee doesn't seem to really care about the mothers themselves, it's all about money: “Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care," said Huckabee. "And the cost of that is simply staggering."

So far, Portman hasn't made any kind of response, and she's not likely to bother. She has a wedding to plan.
