Los Angeles Gallery Features Amazing 'Harry Potter' Fan Art

I believe it was Benjamin Franklin who said, "In this world only three things are certain: death, taxes, and fan art." Whenever there is a cultural phenomenon on the level of Harry Potter, you can bet that fans will be making art inspired by it.

Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California is making the most out of that fact by hosting an art show comprised of all Harry Potter-inspired fan art, just in time for the release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2." The gallery features art made by Potter fans and posted on the gallery's blog, from which the gallery's curators chose the best pieces.

"The thing that I really noticed about this exhibit is that most everybody who contributed is a fan," said one of the curators, Wade Buchanan. "Every piece has some kind of endearing quality to me. You can tell that they're sincerely a fan, and they're inspired by it."

Not all pieces were done by amateur artists, either: Disney artist Bill Perkins contributed a piece, and Mary Grandpré, who is responsible for the artwork on the covers of the Harry Potter books,

Those who attend the show can proudly wear a pin showing their allegiance to one of the four Hogwarts houses and enjoy free butterbeer (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Admission is $2, but if you show up in costume you get in free. What a steal!

The show runs until August 1st, so if you want to see it in person, you'd better get there soon. If you can't ge tto L.A., several of the pieces are available for online auction. Check out some of the art below:
