This short 2005 documentary film was produced in the Netherlands but takes place in Hungary during the period between World Wars I and II. The Angelmakers are a group of women bound by a blood pact to murder their husbands using a method designed to be undetected by medical science of the day. The film explores the reasons that would drive so many women to murder, in the process examining gender roles in European society and how they have evolved from the 1920s through today. Audiences can relate to the deadly Angelmakers as they are shown that the plight these women face was the driving force behind such extreme actions.
