Tracy Morgan From 30 Rock Doing Well After Kidney Transplant

Tracy Morgan From 30 Rock Doing Well After Kidney Transplant Tracy Morgan is doing well after having kidney transplant surgery earlier in the month. Tracy had the surgery in New York City and his rep said he is doing fine and recovering at home. Due to the surgery, Tracy will have to rest for several weeks and miss a few episodes of his show, 30 Rock.

That didn’t keep him from missing a New York Knicks game over the weekend though. That’s some speedy recovery!

I’m sure Tina Fey can write in something funny about the comedian’s absence. Or maybe they won’t even address it, as his illness was a serious matter.  But since he was at a basketball game, he must be doing OK.

Tracy was diagnosed with diabetes back in 1996. He needed a new kidney from the damage that was done to his kidneys from the diabetes and from substance issues. From Entertainment Weekly:

Morgan is the second member of the cast to undergo a kidney transplant. Grizz Chapman, who serves as a member of Tracy’s security detail on the show, underwent surgery earlier this year. He’s the national spokesperson for the Kidney Foundation.

In 1996, Morgan was diagnosed with diabetes. He told Time last year that during the first season of 30 Rock, he didn’t take the disease seriously. “Then one day I got really sick,” the actor said. “The doctor was like, `Hey, listen, we may have to take your foot.’  That was it for me. Now I take my insulin every day. My blood sugar doesn’t get over 120.”

Get well soon Tracy! Don’t overdue it during the holidays. We look forward to your return on the show.
