Jersey Shore's 'The Situation' Leaving Reality For Movies?

Image via PR Photos You have to hand it to Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino: it takes a big personality to match a nickname like that. But with his forays into "Dancing with the Stars", his own line of vitamin products, and a number of big-name endorsements (including Reebok's ZigTech), has The Situation gotten too big for "Jersey Shore"?

In an interview with E! News this weekend, Sorrentino said he hopes to be in a movie "by the end of the year." Does this mean he will be leaving "Jersey Shore" and reality TV in general? "There's only so long you can rule the reality world," Sitch said, "maybe another year of reality, and then I'm gonna graduate to movies."

That means if The Situation gets his way, Season Four of "Jersey Shore" will be his last.

MTV is scheduled to begin filming for the new season this spring, and will take the cast to Italy. Sitch seems to be hoping for something big this season: "I'm actually gonna get me some Rosetta Stone, I got two months to learn it...maybe I can get a hometown Italian chick."

Looks like he's trying to go out with a bang.

What remains to be seen is whether or not Sorrentino can handle the demands of moviemaking. Reality TV isn't all "real", but it's still a big leap from reality "acting" to movie acting. There haven't been many (or any) successful switches from reality TV to movies yet: the likes of Paris Hilton and Kristin Cavalleri have landed a few roles, but neither of them have managed to make much of a career out of it yet (and Cavalleri went right back to reality in joining "The Hills."

So far, the only measurement we have of The Situation's acting abilities is from the "Jersey Shore Presents" sketches, courtesy of George Lopez. He's no Marlon Brando, but he's better than Pauly D and Ronnie.

So 2012 might be the year that we see The Situation in a movie. The real question is, will he take the path of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and drop his nickname? Let's hope not.
