'Lost' Star Matthew Fox Swears Off Movies...But Not Tyler Perry Ones

'Lost' Star Matthew Fox Swears Off Movies...But Not Tyler Perry Ones When Matthew Fox was finishing up the final season of "Lost," he claimed that he was going to quit television.

Later, he claimed that he would quit acting entirely if Hollywood didn't improve the quality of its output.

"I'm disillusioned with the drift towards gratuitous entertainment, which so much of Hollywood is now," Fox told Live magazine.

"Because of the state of the economy, people seem to want pure escapism. But if the roles I fight to get all go to Matt Damon, then I won't work. I turn a lot of stuff down - big, big movies, the kind I wouldn't want to go to the cinema to see."

I'm not so sure I believe that Matthew Fox has been turning down "big, big movies," but he seems to have found a movie that he would "go to the cinema to see." It's called "I, Alex Cross" and it stars Tyler Perry.

Fox has been cast as a serial killer in the film, which is adapted from a James Patterson novel. Those who saw "Kiss the Girls" or "Along Came a Spider" will be familiar with the series. The lead role, originally played by Morgan Freeman, has now gone to Tyler Perry.

Would you watch a movie about Tyler Perry hunting down Matthew Fox? I'm not sure that I'm sold yet, but maybe when we start seeing trailers, I'll change my mind.

After all, it must be good if it got Matthew Fox out of retirement.
