Princeton defeated UCLA by a score of 43-41. The outcome was an upset, as Princeton was the thirteenth seed in the Southeast regional and UCLA was the fourth seed. The Tigers, coached by Pete Carril, played their trademark slow tempo game to advance into the next round. The Bruins were coached by Jim Harrick. Princeton lost in the following round of the tournament to Mississippi State.
