Amy Harding has been through some rough patches in life lately, and she decides that getting away from it all is exactly what she needs. Leaving the city and her problems behind her, she packs what she needs and takes her cat, Frankie. Her parents have a remote cabin in the woods where she spent holidays as a child, and it is the perfect place to think. She notices a strange odor when she opens the door, and there is a slimy material on the floors. Thinking she has mice, she heads down to the general store the next day to rent extermination equipment. While she is at the store, an animal biologist, Marshall Clarke, overhears her conversation and informs her that he is actually in town investigating ecological abnormalities. Marshall goes back to Amy's cabin with her for a closer look, and they find a shocking discovery. Whatever the predator is, it has killed Amy's beloved cat. Marshall goes outside to investigate and actually finds one of the mutant reptiles and is able to kill it. They bring it inside to study it and learn whatever they can from it. A blizzard has just blown in; Amy and Marshall are now trapped in the cabin with the reptiles all around them. All of a sudden there is a knock on the cabin door; Amy's ex-boyfriend has found her. Everything suddenly takes a deadly turn for the worse, and even Amy is not who she appears to be.
