Beyond Outrage is a 2012 Japanese crime drama film directed by Takeshi Kitano, who also stars in the movie alongside Toshiyuki Nishida and Tomokazu Miura. It's the sequel to the 2010 film Outrage. The story follows the power struggle between several yakuza families as they compete for territory and control of the criminal underworld.

The movie begins with the Sanno family in the aftermath of the events of the previous movie. With the head of the family gone, the clan is being run by his second in command, Kato (Tomokazu Miura). However, it's not long before the rival Hanabishi family starts to make moves against the Sanno. They kidnap an important member of the Sanno gang and demand that they hand over control of their territory.

In response, the Sanno clan decides to take the fight to the Hanabishi family. They enlist the help of Otomo (Takeshi Kitano), a former member of the gang who was banished in the previous movie. Otomo is a skilled killer, and he agrees to help the Sanno clan in their fight against the Hanabishi. However, he has his own agenda and is playing both sides against each other.

As the tensions between the two families rise, the violence spills out onto the streets. The police start to get involved, and they see an opportunity to take down both families once and for all. They use undercover tactics and surveillance to try and gain an advantage over the gangs.

The movie is filled with intense shootouts, brutal violence and double-crosses. The characters are ruthless and have no problem betraying each other to get what they want. The movie is set in a dark, gritty world where violence is the only currency that matters. It's a world where loyalty is rare, and everyone is out for themselves.

One of the standout performances in the movie comes from Toshiyuki Nishida, who plays the aging boss of the Sanno clan. His character is a fascinating study of power and control, and Nishida brings a gravitas to the role that makes him one of the most compelling characters in the movie.

Tomokazu Miura also delivers a strong performance as Kato, the new leader of the Sanno family. He's a cold, calculating character who is always looking for an angle to exploit. However, he's also shown to have a softer side, which makes him a more complex character than he initially appears.

Takeshi Kitano, who also directed the movie, is as impressive as ever. He plays Otomo with a quiet intensity that is truly frightening. His character is a master of deception, and Kitano does an excellent job of keeping the audience guessing as to his true motives.

The cinematography in Beyond Outrage is excellent, with the movie making great use of lighting and shadow to create a moody and atmospheric world. The action scenes are well-choreographed and never feel repetitive or mundane.

Overall, Beyond Outrage is an excellent crime drama that will appeal to fans of the genre. The acting is superb, the action is intense, and the story is gripping from start to finish. While it's a sequel, the movie stands on its own and is well worth checking out.

Beyond Outrage is a 2014 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 52 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.7 and a MetaScore of 53.
