Cinema 500 km is a documentary style movie that was created in Saudi Arabia. The film was meant to show how the people of Saudi Arabia were suffering without having a theater available to them. The documentary was meat to show the dramatic trip that those who wanted to view a movie, having to travel upwards of six hours to a completely different country, only to make the long trip back.

While there is no law prohibiting having a theaters in the country, the poverty level has caused lack of interest in building one. Therefore, the country it was based upon, may not ever get to see the film.
