This documentary starts out recording the making of the debut album by songwriter Andrew McMahon and the plans he has for the future and the release of the album. The documentary sees McMahon suffer from laryngitis, which refuses to be cured despite McMahon's best efforts. After seeking medical advice about the laryngitis problem McMahon is informed he has leukemia and sets about a course of treatments that place on hold the many plans he had for the future. Over the course of a year McMahon is followed through emotional highs and lows with problems in all aspects of his life.
