The movie DEE from 2017 is an independent, low-budget sci-fi thriller from Canada. It tells the story of Dee, a young woman who wakes up with no memory of who she is or how she got there, in a strange facility with other people who have no memory of their past. Dee seems to be the only person who is struggling to come to terms with this reality that they all seem to have accepted. She is haunted by glimpses of memories that feel like they are from a different life, and she becomes determined to find out the truth.

Dee is portrayed by Vanessa Przada, who delivers a strong performance as a woman determined to uncover the truth about her past. She's confident and resourceful, but also vulnerable and sympathetic. Alex Judd plays Simon, a sympathetic character who helps Dee navigate the strange new world she finds herself in. The other actors, Anyka Belanger and Casey Belanger, portray two of the other 'amnesiacs' in the facility, and they do a great job of conveying a sense of confusion and suspicion about their surroundings.

The film is visually striking, with some interesting and innovative use of lighting and camera angles. There's a sense of claustrophobia and unease that permeates the scenes in the facility, and the contrast between that and the flashbacks that Dee experiences adds to the suspense. The pacing is slow at times, with the film taking its time to establish the characters and their situation, but this also allows for a sense of character development that's often missing from similar genre films.

As Dee delves deeper into the mystery of the facility, the tension and intrigue are ramped up. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way, and some of the reveals are genuinely surprising. Without giving too much away, the film touches on themes of identity, memory, and the ethics of scientific experimentation. While it doesn't break any new ground in terms of these themes, it does present them in an interesting and engaging way.

Overall, DEE is a well-crafted, thought-provoking sci-fi thriller that's well worth seeking out for fans of the genre. Its low budget shows at times, but the filmmakers have made the most of what they had, and the result is a film that's engaging, suspenseful and visually impressive. Despite some slow patches, the film builds to a satisfying conclusion that leaves the viewer thinking about what they've seen long after the credits have rolled. If you're looking for a film that will keep you guessing and make you think, DEE is well worth a watch.
