As the narrative flows forward, the movie transitions to a new segment, where Nick, Michael, and Steven attend a wedding, and we see how the trauma of war has influenced each's behavior. Here, we see Michael trying to reconcile with Moli, who he had left behind in Vietnam. During a deer hunting trip, Nick chooses to end his life by putting a gun in his mouth. The trauma of war weighs heavily on the three friends, and their daily lives seem to be overshadowed by their experiences in Vietnam.

The actors did an excellent job of portraying the different experiences of war, even though the movie was made in the late 1970s.
