Elemental is a Disney animated film that puts a fresh spin on the classic elements of fire, water, air and earth by reimagining them as residents of the city of Element City. In this world, the four elements exist as distinct communities amongst humans, with each possessing unique traits and abilities tied to their elemental affinity. The fire elementals have flaming hair and fiery dispositions, water elementals flow and change shape like the sea, air elementals travel by whirlwind, and earth elementals possess super strength and steadfastness.

The story follows Ember, a fiery young woman and aspiring firefighter who comes from a long line of distinguished fire elementals. She hopes to follow in her parents’ footsteps, but her unruly abilities still need training at Elemental Academy.

At orientation, she meets Wade, a good-natured water elemental who becomes fast friends with Ember despite their opposing elemental makeups. Their budding friendship is tested when dangerous events around the city threaten to ignite simmering tensions between the elemental communities.

Ember and Wade soon realize a mysterious evil force seeks to shatter the uneasy peace in Element City. The fiendish Blight has the power to drain elementals of their abilities and feed on their energy. It’s up to our mismatched heroes to stop Blight’s malevolent plot before all-out elemental war engulfs the city.

To combat this threat, Ember and Wade must learn to master their powers and work together. Wade teaches Ember emotional control while she helps him strengthen his boldness and conviction. Along with the studious air elemental Liv and gadget-tinkering earth elemental Stone, these unlikely heroes form a team ready to stand up to Blight.
