Everybody Has Secrets is a captivating 2004 South Korean movie that follows the story of four women with different personalities, yet they share a common bond. From childhood, they have been best of friends, and their friendship grew stronger in college. Due to various experiences, they led different lifestyles, and over time, they lost touch with each other. However, they meet again at their Alma Mater's Homecoming Day, reigniting their friendship and uncovering the secrets they had kept hidden for years.

The movie's star cast includes Lee Byung-hun, a heartthrob actor who plays the role of Beom Jin, a successful financial broker, and the only male lead. He is a cool, calm, and collected man, but deep down, he has unresolved issues from his past to deal with. The three other main characters are women, and they all stand out in their way.

First up is Su-hyun, portrayed by Choo Sang-Mi. She is the daughter of the university founder and is married to Jin, Beom Jin's cousin. Su-hyun was once a vibrant and confident woman. However, her marriage to Jin was anything but perfect. She hides a dark secret from her youth that threatens to destroy her relationship with her husband and friends.

Next is Seon-mi, portrayed by Kim Hyo-jin, who works as a kindergarten teacher. She is the meek and soft-spoken member of the group who always tries to keep the peace. Yet, she is not the perfect person she appears to be. Seon-mi has a troubled past that involves a difficult family situation, which left her with emotional scars. Unable to share her burden with anyone, she tries to keep it hidden.

The last member of the quartet is Hae-yeong (Choi Ji-woo). Hae-yeong is an actress who has had to claw her way to the top, but her career seems to be on the decline. She is flamboyant and can be too vocal about her opinions without regard to others' feelings. Hae-yeong has a secret that she believes is pure poison, a secret that could destroy the career she has worked so hard to build.

The story begins with the four friends coming together after years of being apart. They seem genuinely happy to see one another again, but the façade of glee quickly fades when they start to share their secrets. The plot deeps with each revelation, uncovering a web of lies, betrayal, and secrets no one could have suspected. Each secret is unique, carrying its weight, and the ladies must band together to help each other navigate the storm that had been unleashed. This puts a strain on their friendship, but as they collectively uncover each other's past, they're also forced to confront their current realities and take charge of their lives.

The movie's director, Jang Hyeong-Cheol, masterfully executes the storytelling, keeping the plot suspenseful and engaging. The cinematography is visually pleasing, effortlessly capturing the emotions of the characters and the sceneries through the camera's lens. The acting by the entire cast is superb, with each actor breathing life into their characters.

In conclusion, Everybody Has Secrets is an excellent movie that explores the intricacies of human relationships and the damage secrets can do when left to fester. It provides a glimpse of the beauty and fragility of friendship and how it can change over time. The movie is emotional and raw, but ultimately, it's about women coming together to face their demons, find acceptance, and heal from their past. It's a must-watch for any fan of the drama genre.
