In this 2012 documentary we learn about the hopes and dreams in the lives of eight California students who are competing for a $40,000 scholarship. Each of the eight Compton High School boys and girls has been chosen to enter a free throw challenge which could change their futures forever. But the story is about much more than just the moments at the free throw line; it is about the invisible lines that divide communities and how through hope and collaboration we can cross those lines and become better for it.

Inspired by his own son, director Court Randall decided to hold the contest in the troubled Compton school, whose reputation is more stereotypically associated with poverty and crime than hope and community. His team took on nearly a hundred applications among students whose GPA was 3.0 or above and whittled it down to eight through random selection.

Funds for the film were raised through Kickstarter.
