When a group of passengers embarks on the maiden voyage of a luxury liner, they have no idea of the terrors that will unfold before them. Ghost Voyage from 2008 is a chilling horror film that follows the haunting events that take place on a doomed cruise ship, leaving its passengers and crew fighting for their lives against supernatural forces.

The film opens with a young woman named Gloria (Deanna Russo) frantically packing her bags and preparing to leave her home. She is clearly distressed and seems to be running from something or someone. As she races out of the house and drives away, we hear her desperate voiceover explaining that she has to get away from the ghosts that have been haunting her, even though she knows they will follow her wherever she goes.

Soon, we are introduced to a group of passengers who are boarding the luxury liner, the Andrea Doria, for its maiden voyage. Among them is Anne (Julia Hickey), a travel writer who is covering the ship's launch for a magazine, and her ex-boyfriend, the ship's security chief, Brett (Antonio Sabato Jr.). As they begin to get settled in their cabins, strange occurrences start happening. Doors slam shut on their own, strange noises can be heard, and a young girl appears and then disappears in a flash.

Despite the apparent supernatural activity, the ship sets sail and the passengers begin to enjoy their vacation. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse when the ship suddenly loses all power and starts to drift aimlessly through the open sea. As they try to figure out what's going on, it becomes clear that they are not alone on the ship. The ghosts of former passengers, who died in a tragic accident years ago, have returned to exact their revenge on the living.

As the supernatural occurrences become more frequent and violent, the passengers and crew frantically try to find a way to escape the doomed vessel. They band together, putting aside their differences and petty squabbles, to fight off the vengeful spirits that are determined to make them pay for the sins of the past. Along the way, they uncover a sinister plot and discover that the ghosts are seeking more than just revenge.

Ghost Voyage is a well-crafted horror film that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The special effects are impressive and the suspenseful score adds to the overall tension of the film. Although there are a few cliché moments, such as the obligatory jump scares and gratuitous gore, the film manages to stay fresh and engaging throughout. The story is well-written, and while it's not the most original plot, it's executed in a way that keeps the audience invested in the outcome.

The film's cast is impressive as well. Antonio Sabato Jr. gives a solid performance as the stoic security chief, while Deanna Russo manages to convey a genuine sense of terror as the haunted Gloria. Nicholas Irons also shines as the ship's captain, bringing a sense of authority and gravitas to the role. The supporting cast of passengers, while not given a lot of depth, all contribute to the film's overall atmosphere of dread and desperation.

One of the film's strengths is its use of location. The Andrea Doria serves as a claustrophobic and ominous backdrop to the unfolding horror, with its narrow hallways and labyrinthine corridors. The scenes shot on board the ship are unsettling and full of tension, with the ghosts lurking around every corner and the sense of impending danger palpable.

In conclusion, Ghost Voyage from 2008 is a solid horror film that manages to hit all the right marks. Its story is engaging, its effects are impressive, and its cast does a great job of bringing the characters to life. While it may not break any new ground in terms of the genre, it's an enjoyable and well-crafted horror film that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
