Lake Artifact is a horror comedy movie directed by Bruce Wemple, which was released in 2019. The movie takes place in a remote cabin, located in the woods of upstate New York, where a group of friends visit for a weekend getaway. The main characters are a group of five friends: Jack (played by Thomas Brazzle), his girlfriend Cassie (played by Catharine Daddario), Cassie’s best friend Gina (played by Anna Shields), Gina’s boyfriend Ken (played by Chris Cimperman), and finally, the outsider Tommy (played by Dylan Grunn).

The movie starts off as a typical comedy with the friends joking around and having a good time. However, things take a dark turn when they discover a mysterious artifact, which they find at the bottom of the lake near the cabin. The group pulls the object out of the water, and after cleaning it up, they bring it inside the cabin to examine it.

The object seems to be a piece of metal with unknown symbols etched into it. When the group tries to decipher the writing, they unknowingly awaken an ancient creature that possesses anyone who touches the artifact.

As tensions rise and strange occurrences begin happening, the group tries to destroy the object, but they soon realize that it might be too late. The situation gets out of hand as they soon find themselves fighting for their lives against a vengeful entity that wants to destroy them.

What follows is a nail-biting sequence of events that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The movie is a mix of horror and comedy that blends in perfectly to create an atmosphere that is both terrifying and entertaining.

The performances by the cast are commendable, especially Catharine Daddario, who plays Cassie, the character who gets possessed by the creature. Daddario managed to capture the essence of a person struggling with something beyond their control, and her portrayal adds a lot of depth to the movie. The comedic timing of the cast is perfect and helps create much-needed relief from the tension that builds throughout the movie.

The direction of Bruce Wemple deserves appreciation, as he manages to create a thrilling atmosphere that keeps the audience engaged throughout the movie. The cinematography by Gabe Mayhan generously captures the beauty of the surrounding forest wilderness and enhances the terror on screen.

The music of the movie is an essential component of its narrative, and Daniel DeBlanke’s score does it justice. It appropriately adds to the overall ambience of the movie and brings an eerie sense of apprehension throughout.

Overall, Lake Artifact is a great horror comedy that should appeal to audiences looking for something unusual. The movie manages to balance the horror elements and comedic moments efficiently, making it an entertaining watch. The movie may not be for everyone, as it’s horror elements can get intense, but for horror enthusiasts, it may very well become a cult classic.

Lake Artifact is a 2019 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 22 minutes.
