"Middle Sexes: Redefining He and She" (2005) is an American TV documentary about sexual identity and genders. Its topics include transgenders who are born one sex but believe themselves to actually be the other sex. Such people are often the targets of violence and bigotry. Dutch scientists have found differences between the brains of transsexuals and non-transsexuals. Intersexuals are people born with ambiguous genitalia. The documentary also examines how different cultures and religions treat gender identity. Hindus and Buddhists tend to accept transgenders, because they believe in reincarnation and therefore believe that everybody will be a transgender in at least one of their lives.
