Watch Mountain Lake & Stream Ecosystems/Frozen Ecosystem Adaptations

Program 1: The pure water in high mountain lakes, carved by glaciers, plays host to surprising creatures such as well-adapted insects. As gravity pulls water downstream, the clear, cold streams and waterfalls force adaptations in fish and insects found nowhere else. Program 2: Water can become a hazard for life when it freezes, but living things manage to adapt even in these extreme regions. Ice and snow can also quench untold thirsts by storing water in glaciers, and by creating protective winter habitats for some mammals and insects.
