Panaah is an Indian action-drama film released in 1992. It was directed by Krishnakant Pandya and stars Naseeruddin Shah, Praveen Kumar Sobti, and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles. The film revolves around the life of Inspector Vijay Saxena, played by Naseeruddin Shah, who is a dedicated police officer. He is married to Shanti, played by Pallavi Joshi, and they have a daughter named Pinky.

Vijay's life takes a turn when he gets a call informing him about a criminal, Shakaal, played by Kiran Kumar, who has just escaped from jail. Shakaal was responsible for killing Vijay's brother, which makes Vijay more determined to bring him back to jail. However, this time, Shakaal not only plans to take revenge against Vijay, but also wants to ruin his entire family.

Vijay is a fearless and competent police officer who knows how to handle the worst situations, so he is not afraid of Shakaal's threats. Despite this, Shakaal poses a significant danger to Vijay's family, especially his daughter. To protect his family, Vijay moves them to a safe place and becomes extra vigilant in his attempts to track down Shakaal.

As the story unfolds, we see how Vijay uses his intellect and wit to catch Shakaal. In one scene, he disguises himself as a beggar to easily enter a local gathering where Shakaal is reportedly present, and casually walks out with Shakaal without anyone noticing.

A significant portion of the movie is devoted to highlighting Vijay's perseverance and determination. He is seen working hard day and night, and he never gives up. Vijay puts his own life in jeopardy to ensure that his family and citizens remain safe from the clutches of crime.

Apart from Naseeruddin Shah's character, the film also focuses on Praveen Kumar Sobti's character, who plays a journalist named Bridge Mohan. Mohan is determined to expose the corrupt activities of Shakaal and the people who support him. Throughout the movie, Mohan teams up with Vijay in his quest for justice, which adds a new dimension to the plot.

Pallavi Joshi's portrayal of Shanti, Vijay's wife, is also noteworthy. She adds an emotional touch to the movie and shows what a wife and a mother goes through while her family is under threat.

The film boasts well-choreographed action scenes that skillfully merge with the plot. The music, composed by Nadeem-Shravan, nicely complements the narrative.

Overall, Panaah is a story of crime and punishment, justice and injustice, and of how one man's determination can make a difference. It is a must-watch film for anyone who loves a good action-drama.

Panaah is a 0166 action movie with a runtime of 2 hours and 36 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.7.
