In Englewood, an African-American neighborhood in Chicago, children attend the Barbara A. Sizemore Academy, an "urban village" where self-esteem and respect for African culture prevail. One day, the principal announces the school is slated to close at the end of the year. Armed with a camera, the students and their teacher prepare to fight. Denied a meeting with city officials, the students plead their case on TV. Hearings are held, and the community passionately rallies for their cause.
Saving Barbara Sizemore is a 2016 documentary with a runtime of 1 hour and 22 minutes.
