Experience the American Journey through our country's visual heritage in this historical recording provided by the National Archives of the United States. From the U.S. Army's THE BIG PICTURE television series, 1950-1975. This film deals with the benefits that were received by Bolivia and Peru from the Military Assistance Program. Scenes show the local U.S. Army mission as they delivered textbooks in La Paz, boats reconditioned with U.S. monies transporting Bolivian and U.S. Military Assistance Mission medical personnel to hard-to-reach areas, and a course in U.S. Army counterinsurgency techniques that was taught to Bolivian officers and soldiers. Included also are scenes in Peru, with Mission representatives as they assisted local officers with surveying technology, aerial photography, and other important aspects of cartography.
