On June 28th, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne was assassinated. This set off a powder-keg that would later on be called the Great War, or World War I. The Great War: War At Sea is a movie that documents the war from the naval stand point. The German Empire deployed cruisers throughout the globe sinking as many Allied merchant ships as they possibly could. The Royal British Navy sought to methodically seek out and destroy the cruisers. From the battles of Coronel, Jutland and Skagarrak, to the use of the first real submarines and aircraft carriers this video shows how the war was won not so much on land as it was at sea.
