During World War II Richard Kim and American Merchant Marine was captured and held in Shanghai by the Japanese Military. He had little to do each day except study the Chinese Martial arts and in particular,the Internal; Arts taught by Shanghais best. He learned Paqua from a Taoist monk named Hsu Chao Lie, Tai Chi from Chen Chin Yuan and Yi Chuan and Chi Kung from Wang Xiang Zhay.
