The Light of Western Stars is a 1930 Western movie that takes place in the late 1800s in the small town of Vanning. The main character is a strong-willed and independent woman named Molly Morgan (Mary Brian), who inherits a ranch from her father after his death. The ranch is located near the Mexican border and is said to be haunted by the spirits of those who were killed during the Mexican-American War.

Despite the rumors, Molly is determined to make a success of the ranch and becomes well-respected in the town for her tenacity and skill as a horsewoman. However, trouble arises when a band of bandits led by Jeff Nidd (Richard Arlen) rob a train and seek refuge in the nearby mountains.

Molly's friend and mentor, Judge Stillman (Harry Green), asks her to hide Nidd and his men on her ranch, as he believes that they are not the real culprits behind the robbery. Initially hesitant, Molly agrees to help them and allows them to stay on her property.

As the days go by, Molly and Nidd grow closer and develop a romantic relationship. However, their happiness is short-lived when Nidd's past catches up with him, and he is forced to face his crimes and the consequences of his actions.

The Light of Western Stars highlights the beauty of the American West and the struggles of early pioneers. The film's use of real-life locations, including the Grand Canyon, adds authenticity to the story and transports the audience to a time when life was much simpler.

Mary Brian delivers a strong performance as Molly, portraying her as a woman who is not afraid to go against societal norms and fight for what she believes in. Richard Arlen is equally convincing as Nidd, portraying him as a man who is torn between his love for Molly and his desire to do what is right.

The supporting cast also does an outstanding job, with Harry Green providing comic relief as Judge Stillman, and George "Gabby" Hayes delivering a solid performance as a local lawman.

The Light of Western Stars is a classic Western that will appeal to fans of the genre and those who appreciate a good romance story. The film's use of stunning landscapes and its portrayal of strong, independent women make it a must-see for anyone interested in the history of the American West.
