The movie The Right Girls from 2021 is a romantic comedy that revolves around the personal and professional lives of three women who have been friends since childhood. The movie is directed by Brooke Shields and stars Mira Sorvino as Beth, Dana Delany as Annie, and Paula Abdul as Cynthia. The movie also includes appearances from familiar faces like Catherine Bell, Lorraine Bracco, and Cheri Oteri.

The movie begins with the three friends meeting up for drinks and discussing their careers and love lives. Beth is a successful lawyer who is married to a controlling husband (played by Matthew Del Negro) and is struggling to balance her career with her family life. Annie is a talented chef who owns her own restaurant but has trouble finding love after her divorce. Meanwhile, Cynthia is a fashion designer who is romantically involved with a younger man.

The three friends come up with the idea of starting their own business, a boutique matchmaking service that caters exclusively to successful women. They believe this is a niche that has not been explored and will help empower women to take control of their love lives. Their business soon takes off, and they find themselves helping women from all walks of life find love and companionship.

As the business grows, the three friends face their own personal struggles. Beth starts to question her marriage and whether it is worth sacrificing her career for. Annie starts to have feelings for a regular at her restaurant (played by Charles Shaughnessy), but is worried about getting involved with a customer. Cynthia's relationship starts to hit a rough patch when her younger boyfriend starts to feel insecure about their age difference.

The movie does an excellent job of balancing romance and comedy. The banter between the three friends is hilarious at times, and the romantic moments are sweet and heartwarming. The movie also touches on important themes like female empowerment, gender roles, and the importance of friendship.

One of the movie's strengths is the excellent performances by the three leading ladies. Mira Sorvino is fantastic as Beth, and her portrayal of a successful career woman struggling to balance her personal and professional life is relatable and nuanced. Dana Delany brings charm and wit to her role as Annie, and her chemistry with Charles Shaughnessy is undeniable. Paula Abdul, in her first major acting role, is surprisingly great as Cynthia, and brings a lot of humor and heart to the character.

The supporting cast also shines, particularly Catherine Bell as a tough-as-nails businesswoman who hires the matchmaking service to find her a husband, and Lorraine Bracco as a no-nonsense family therapist who helps Beth with her marital issues.

Overall, The Right Girls is a fun, feel-good movie that is perfect for a girls' night in. With great performances, a strong script, and excellent direction, it is definitely one of the better romantic comedies to come out in recent years.

The Right Girls is a 2020 documentary with a runtime of 1 hour and 25 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.5.
