The Singing Revolution tells the story of how the people of Estonia protested against their Soviet occupiers in large rallies between 1986 and 991. These protesters were mainly peaceful, the protestors did have one powerful weapon, and that weapon was song. Patriotic songs had been outlawed by the Soviets, yet as this film depicts, the Estonians continued to sing. Thousands of Estonians would sing in defiance.
