Tom Wolfe Gets Back to Blood marks the first time Mr. Wolfe has been featured on film in his 50-plus year writing career. This documentary follows Wolfe through the best and worst of wacky Miami, a sultry, exotic city teeming with immigrant ambition, pockets of opulent wealth and a relentless climate of heat and tension. This independent film also marks the first time a documentary has gone behind the scenes of a major literary work and is released at the same time as the book itself. Take a peek inside the creative process of an American icon and experience the subtle observations, the social interactions, and the singular locales that inspired Mr. Wolfe's fiction writing. The documentary features multiple sit-down and street interviews with Mr. Wolfe, as well as numerous interviews with people who factored into his research, including Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, Police Chief John Timoney, Miami Herald Executive Editor Anders Gyllenhaal and gossip columnist Lesley Abravanel. The documentary was directed and produced by award-winning journalist Oscar Corral.
