Wind River is a 2017 American thriller film set in Wyoming. The movie stars Jeremy Renner (Avengers, The Hurt Locker) as Cory Lambert, a wildlife enforcement officer, and Elizabeth Olsen (Avengers, Godzilla) as FBI agent, Jane Banner. The film follows the two as they investigate the mysterious death of a young Native American woman on the Wind River Indian Reservation.

The story begins with Cory hunting down wolves who have been attacking local livestock. During his hunt, he discovers the body of a young woman named Natalie (Kelsey Asbille) who he knew from her childhood. Natalie's death is immediately suspicious, and Jane is called in to investigate. However, as she is not familiar with the area or the local customs, she requests Cory's help.

Cory and Jane initially face difficulties in their investigation as the reservation's law enforcement is underfunded and understaffed, and the residents are often reluctant to cooperate with outsiders. The two agents also learn that the region is plagued by a drug epidemic and an insidious human trafficking ring.

As they continue their investigation, Cory and Jane slowly begin to unravel a web of sinister secrets and corruption that reaches to the highest levels of government. With time running out, they must put their own lives at risk to bring those responsible to justice.

Wind River is a gripping and intense thriller that effectively depicts the harsh realities of life on a Native American reservation. The movie delves into themes such as grief, loss, redemption, and justice, and does so with resounding emotional impact.

Jeremy Renner delivers a standout performance as Cory Lambert, who is haunted by his own personal demons while dealing with the tragedy of Natalie's death. Elizabeth Olsen brings a sense of vulnerability and determination to her portrayal of the inexperienced but driven FBI agent Jane Banner.

The film's direction from Taylor Sheridan, who also wrote the script, is both raw and effective. His use of stunning visuals and sparse dialogue enhances the harshness and isolation of the Wyoming landscape, and adds tension to the film's quieter moments.

In addition to the primary cast, Wind River features strong supporting performances from Tantoo Cardinal (Dances with Wolves), Graham Greene (The Green Mile), and Gil Birmingham (Hell or High Water). The film also features a hauntingly beautiful score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

Overall, Wind River is a heart-wrenching thriller that leaves a lasting impression on the viewer. The film's themes of grief, redemption, and justice are delicately handled, and its performances and direction are first-rate. Wind River is a must-watch for fans of intense, emotionally charged cinema.
