The Angry Video Game Nerd is back with the third and final installment of CD-i games. In season 3, episode 20, the Nerd takes on even more terrible games for the Philips CD-i console.
First up is Hotel Mario, a game where Mario has to save Princess Toadstool from Bowser's seven Koopa hotels. The gameplay involves closing doors and jumping on enemies, but the Nerd is not impressed. He describes the game as "silly" and "frustrating," with poorly designed levels and clunky controls.
Next, the Nerd takes on the infamous Zelda games for the CD-i, Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon. He describes the cutscenes as "atrocious" and the animation as "stiff and lifeless." The dialogue is also criticized for being nonsensical and boring. The gameplay is not much better, with confusing level layouts and unresponsive controls.
The Nerd even goes so far as to call the CD-i a "bastard console" and wonders how such awful games could ever be made. He points out the many glitches and bugs found in these games, as well as the terrible sound effects and music.
But the Nerd soldier's on, determined to finish these games for the sake of his viewers. He even tries a strange educational game called The Wacky World of Miniature Golf, but there's not much to say about that one except that it's boring.
In the end, the Nerd gives his final verdict on the CD-i games: they're terrible. He recommends avoiding them at all costs, unless you're a fan of terrible games and want to see what the fuss is all about.
Overall, CD-i Part III is a hilarious and entertaining episode of Angry Video Game Nerd. The Nerd's commentary is witty and insightful, and his reactions to these terrible games are priceless. Whether you're a fan of retro gaming or just love watching someone suffer through terrible games, this episode is a must-watch.
