In the second episode of Black Spot, titled "A Wolf's Dream," the small town of Villefranche is shaken by the death of a young woman who was found drowned in the lake. Her body was discovered by the sheriff, Major Laurène Weiss (played by Suliane Brahim), and her deputy, Bertrand Steiner (played by Samuel Jouy), who are tasked with investigating the crime.
As they try to piece together what happened, they discover that the victim, Léa Moreau, was an artist who had a fascination with wolves. Laurène and Bertrand learn that Léa's boyfriend, Mathieu, had recently broken up with her and that she had been struggling with depression.
Meanwhile, a strange and unsettling presence continues to haunt Villefranche. The locals speak of a supernatural force known as "The Beast," which is said to lurk in the forest surrounding the town. Laurène experienced this entity firsthand when she was attacked by it in the premiere episode, and her encounter has left her shaken.
As the investigation into Léa's death intensifies, suspicions begin to fall on Mathieu, who appears to be hiding something. The town's eccentric and reclusive property developer, Jean-Baptiste Liar (played by Renaud Rutten), is also under suspicion, as he had a motive for wanting Léa dead.
Laurène and Bertrand are also dealing with personal demons of their own. Laurène is haunted by the death of her mother, which she believes is connected to the supernatural forces at play in Villefranche. Bertrand, meanwhile, is struggling with his own addiction issues, and his behavior becomes increasingly erratic as the investigation continues.
The tension in the town reaches a boiling point when a pack of wolves is spotted in the forest, leading many to believe that The Beast has returned. Laurène, Bertrand, and the rest of the town must confront their fears and unravel the mysteries surrounding Villefranche before it's too late.
