Black Spot [English Subtitled] Season 2 Episode 1 How we live now (Part 1)

In the season 2 premiere of Black Spot, titled "How we live now (Part 1)", we are back in Villefranche, the isolated town surrounded by dense forests that is plagued by unsolved crimes and strange occurrences. A year has passed since the events of the first season, and things have changed in the community. The opening scene shows a group of teenagers camping in the woods, enjoying a summer night around a fire. Suddenly, they hear a strange noise and see a figure lurking in the shadows. They try to ignore it, but the fear grows as the noises become louder and more persistent. When they investigate, they find a wounded man lying on the ground, unconscious. The man, who is a stranger to the town, is taken to the local hospital, where he is treated by the newly-appointed nurse, Leila Barami (Naima Rodric).

Meanwhile, the police captain, Laurene Weiss (Suliane Brahim), is dealing with issues of her own. She is pregnant with her ex-boyfriend's child, and the situation is complicated by his reluctance to take responsibility. Laurene also has to deal with the arrival of a new prosecutor, Franck Siriani (Laurent Capelluto), who seems more interested in getting results than in upholding justice.

As the town prepares for the annual summer carnival, tensions rise between the old and the new residents. Martial Ferrandis has invited a group of wealthy businessmen to invest in the town, but his plans clash with the traditional way of life and the environmental concerns of the locals. The carnival itself has a creepy motif this year, featuring a giant mechanical spider that seems to have a life of its own.

As the episode progresses, we see that the stranger found in the woods is not who he seems to be, and that his arrival is linked to a larger conspiracy that involves the town's dark past. We also learn that some of the characters we thought we knew well have secrets of their own, and that the mysteries of Villefranche are far from being resolved.

"How we live now (Part 1)" sets the stage for an intriguing new chapter in the Black Spot saga. The showrunners have managed to maintain the eerie atmosphere and the intricate plotlines that made the first season a hit, while adding new elements and characters to keep the viewers engaged. The performances are solid across the board, with Suliane Brahim and Hubert Delattre standing out as the conflicted female cop and the ambitious mayor, respectively. The visuals are stunning, making the most of the lush natural surroundings and the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack.
