In Cyanide & Happiness Shorts season 2 episode 20, titled "The Weatherman," the audience is introduced to a local weatherman who is determined to give out the most accurate forecasts possible. The episode starts with the weatherman standing in front of the camera and confidently predicting that it is going to be a beautiful day outside with ample sunshine and no chance of rain.
However, as soon as the camera cuts away, the weatherman's tone changes, and he admits that he has no idea what the weather is going to be like. He then proceeds to consult a magic eight-ball to determine the day's weather forecast.
Things take a dark turn when the weatherman realizes that he has predicted rain for the next day, but it is instead a sunny day outside. Frustrated and confused, the weatherman spirals into a deep depression and begins to neglect his duties. He stops showing up for work and even turns to alcohol to cope with his emotions.
It's not long until the weatherman's lies catch up to him, and he is let go from his job as a weatherman. He has and will forever be known as the weatherman who was always wrong, leading to his downfall.
"The Weatherman" is a biting satire of the obsession with accuracy in the world of weather forecasting, highlighting how frustratingly unpredictable Mother Nature can be. It also explores the toll that unrelenting pressure can take on a person, and how dangerous it can be to lie and deceive those you are meant to serve.
Overall the episode gives a snickerish feeling to the audience and casts light on the notion that things don't necessarily go as planned when man and nature interweave.
