Dishing with a Demon is the ninth episode of the first season of Dimension 20, a tabletop roleplaying game show by CollegeHumor. In this episode, the players continue their quest to save the multiverse from an evil force that threatens its existence.
The episode begins with the players, who are students at Aguefort Adventuring Academy, investigating a strange occurrence in the nearby town of Elmville. They have learned that a demon is possessing the residents and causing chaos. To stop the demon, they must find a magical artifact called the Tome of the Raven Queen, which is said to have the power to banish demons.
The players split up to investigate the town. Riz Gukgak, a halfling rogue played by Brennan Lee Mulligan, poses as a food critic to sneak into the local tavern and gather information. He meets a charming waiter named Chester, who is actually possessed by the demon. The demon tries to convince Riz to join its side, but Riz resists and escapes with the help of one of his allies.
Meanwhile, the rest of the players enter a bakery and meet a helpful gnome baker named Enor, who offers to sell them a cake that contains a clue to the location of the artifact. However, they soon realize that Enor is also possessed by the demon. They must fight Enor and his possessed customers to escape the bakery and find the next clue.
As the players gather more clues, they learn that the demon is searching for the Tome of the Raven Queen to destroy it and become even more powerful. They head to the town library, where they hope to find the book before the demon does. Inside, they discover that the librarian is actually a powerful wizard named Adaine Abernant, played by Siobhan Thompson, who is also searching for the book.
Adaine agrees to help the players find the Tome, but only if they promise to destroy it once they have used it to banish the demon. They agree and team up with her to enter the secret chamber where the book is kept.
Inside the chamber, they encounter several traps and obstacles, including a riddle that must be solved to unlock the door to the book. They succeed and find the Tome of the Raven Queen, but the demon appears and a final battle ensues.
The players use the book to banish the demon back to its plane of existence, but Adaine warns them that using the book has consequences. She explains that by destroying the book, they have altered the course of history and opened up new possibilities for the multiverse.
The episode ends with the players reflecting on their success and the impact of their actions. It sets the stage for the next episode, in which the players will continue their adventures and face new challenges.
Overall, Dishing with a Demon is an exciting and suspenseful episode that showcases the players' creativity, teamwork, and strategy. The demon's possession of the town's residents adds a creepy and intriguing element to the story, and the players' interactions with the possessed characters provide some comedic relief. The episode also introduces new characters and lore that deepen the show's mythology and set up future plot points.
