Their adventure begins in the town of Alma, where they discover the stunning Parc de la Caverne Trou de la Fée, a cave with natural waterfalls and an array of stunning rock formations. The kids are thrilled to take a guided tour of the cave and learn about the region’s unique geological landscape.
The family also visits the nearby town of Saint-Félicien, home to the incredible Zoo sauvage de Saint-Félicien. This expansive wildlife park houses over 1,000 animals from around the world, including moose, wolves, bears, and caribou. Colleen and her kids discover the park on a guided tour, where they come face-to-face with the animals in their natural habitats.
From there, the family travels to the Saguenay fjord, where they take in the breathtaking scenery and try their hand at sailing. The fjord is known for its unique ecosystem, and Colleen and her family are excited to see it for themselves. They set sail on a chartered boat and are treated to gorgeous views of the fjord and surrounding mountains.
No trip to Quebec would be complete without some cultural delights, and Colleen’s family visits the town of Roberval to immerse themselves in the region’s history. There they visit the impressive Musée Louis-Hémon, a museum that chronicles the story of the famous French writer and immigrant who settled in Quebec in the early 1900s.
The highlight of the trip, however, is a visit to the family farm of one of the locals, where they get a first-hand look at the agricultural traditions of the region. Colleen and her kids get to see how real Quebec cheese is made, learn about traditional farming practices and how to cook a delicious meal with the freshest ingredients.
Through its natural beauty, cultural attractions, and welcoming locals, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean showcases the very best of Quebec. Colleen and her family are inspired to come back again and again, as they have discovered an incredible destination that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.
