As we reach the end of the season in this episode of Gardeners' World, we take a look at the late summer blooms in the garden and learn about the best ways to keep our plants healthy and thriving even as the colder months approach.

First up, presenter Monty Don checks in on his vegetable garden and shares some tips on how to keep the produce growing for as long as possible. He explains the importance of removing any diseased or dead plants as soon as they appear, as these can quickly spread disease to the rest of the garden. He also demonstrates how to cut back certain plants to encourage continued growth, and encourages viewers to keep a close eye on the changing weather conditions to ensure their plants receive the best care possible.

Next, we take a trip to the Royal Horticultural Society's garden at Wisley in Surrey, where presenter Adam Frost meets with the head of the garden, Matthew Pottage. They take a tour of the stunning rock garden, which showcases a variety of plants from around the world and is designed to be low-maintenance and drought-resistant. Matthew explains the importance of choosing plants that will thrive in the environment they are placed in, and shares his advice on how to create similar gardens in our own homes.

In another segment, we meet up with Carol Klein in her Devon garden, where she explains how she has been dealing with the changing weather conditions to keep her dahlias looking their best. She shares her tips for deadheading and cutting back, and also demonstrates how to take cuttings from these popular plants so that they can be grown again next year.

Later in the episode, we visit a community garden in Bristol, where the gardeners are growing a variety of different plants and vegetables while also creating a welcoming space for the local community to relax in. We learn about the hard work that goes into maintaining the garden and hear from some of the volunteers who are passionate about creating a sustainable and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.

Finally, we check in with Frances Tophill, who is busy harvesting her fruit and vegetables and preserving them for the winter months. She shares her tips for making jams and chutneys, and also shows us how to dry herbs so that they can be used all year round. We also hear from some of the other presenters about their plans for the coming months, and learn about the different types of gardening they will be doing over the winter season.

Overall, this episode of Gardeners' World is a great reminder that even as summer comes to an end, there is still plenty to enjoy and learn from in the garden. Whether you are growing vegetables, flowers or both, the show is full of helpful tips and inspiring stories to keep you motivated and engaged throughout the year.
