The first episode is set at Gardeners' World presenters Monty Don and Adam Frost's own gardens, Longmeadow and Frost's Home Garden respectively. Monty gets the ball rolling by showcasing an array of early vegetables he has grown over winter including onions, garlic and broad beans. He explains to viewers how these vegetables are relatively easy to grow and offers valuable tips on how to grow them successfully in your own garden.
Next up, we are taken to Adam Frost's Home Garden where he offers insights into how to design and plan a garden with the help of his four-legged furry friend Moose. Adam shares tips on how to create garden paths, borders and how to introduce different elements and structures to make your garden unique. Additionally, he speaks about the importance of including focal points such as a seat or water feature.
The episode moves on to feature gardening enthusiast Frances Tophill who introduces viewers to the art of greenhouse gardening. Frances explains how a greenhouse can significantly increase your yield of vegetables, fruit, and flowers by extending the growing season and protecting the plants from the effects of frost and inclement weather. She takes viewers through the benefits as well as the different types of greenhouses that are available and discusses how to take care of a greenhouse once you have one.
The next segment features an interview with Dr. Emily Scott-Dearing who enthusiastically shares her knowledge on carnivorous plants and why they are an essential addition to your garden. We learn how these insectivorous plants are an excellent natural pest control option and the ideal addition to gardens that attract flies and other insects. Emily also provides advice on how and where to cultivate carnivorous plants in your garden.
Finally, we are taken to Ian Paton's garden in Northumberland where we learn how to take cuttings from plants to create new ones. Ian guides and explains to viewers on how to select the right type of plant for cuttings, how to prepare them before planting, and the time of the year that is ideal to take cuttings.
