Gardeners' World is a popular British gardening television series that has been airing since 1968. The show, which is presented by Monty Don, aims to inspire viewers to get out into their gardens and to enjoy the wonderful world of plants. In season 55, episode 4, viewers can expect to be treated to an hour of gardening inspiration and tips, as well as a glimpse into some of the most stunning gardens in the country.

The episode begins with Monty Don and his dog Nigel taking a stroll around his home garden, Longmeadow. Monty provides viewers with handy tips on how to keep summer containers looking their best by deadheading and feeding them regularly. He also shares his love for a lesser-known flowering plant that he's been growing in his garden for over 50 years - Salvias.

Next up, we head to Wales to visit a garden that's been designed with wildlife in mind. The owner has carefully selected plants for their nectar, pollen, and seed-bearing qualities, making sure that the garden provides year-round food for bees, butterflies, and birds. Monty is impressed with the diversity of plants and the sheer number of animal species the garden attracts.

We then join Carol Klein as she takes us on a tour of the magnificent gardens of Tintinhull House in Somerset. The National Trust-owned garden is a masterpiece of design and planting, and Carol is captivated by the vibrant colors and textures on display. She particularly enjoys the garden's "knot garden," a formal parterre garden, which is made up of over 3000 low growing box hedges. Carol explains how to create a knot garden of your own, using less formal plants, to introduce knot garden elements into your garden.

Over in Herefordshire, Joe Swift visits a couple who have taken on the massive task of turning 17 acres of arable land into a garden. The owners have transformed it with thousands of trees and shrubs, creating a woodland experience that extends for miles through the countryside. Joe is fascinated by the couple's commitment to the project, and the extraordinary results they have achieved.

Finally, the program returns to Longmeadow with Monty delivering his seasonal guide, focusing on watering and feeding plants. Monty demonstrates how he waters and feeds his vegetable patch using water from his garden well and organic feeds. He emphasizes the importance of correct watering, especially during hot and dry spells, so that plants do not experience stress. He also reveals some tricks he uses to help maintain healthy plants.

Gardeners' World season 55, episode 4, offers a wealth of gardening inspiration and advice for viewers.
