Ep 6. Fournoi

In season 3 episode 6 of My Greek Odyssey, the host, Peter Maneas, travels to Fournoi, a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea. Fournoi is often overlooked by tourists, but as Peter quickly discovers, it has a rich history and plenty of hidden gems to explore.

Peter begins his journey by meeting up with a local fisherman who takes him out on his boat to see the crystal-clear waters and stunning coastline of Fournoi. They stop at a few secluded beaches where Peter is able to take a swim and soak up the sun.

Next, Peter visits the Archeological Museum of Fourni, which houses ancient artifacts that have been found on the island. Many of these artifacts date back to the time when Fournoi was an important trading hub in the Aegean Sea. Peter learns about the island's history and how its strategic location has made it a coveted spot for various empires throughout the centuries.

Peter also explores some of the island's local delicacies, visiting a family-owned bakery that has been making traditional Greek bread for over a century. He watches as the bakers use a wood-burning oven to create the perfect loaf and even tries his hand at rolling out some dough.

Peter then meets up with a local artist who takes him on a tour of her studio and shows him some of her beautiful paintings inspired by the island's landscape. The artist explains how Fournoi's natural beauty and peaceful way of life inspire her art and provide a constant source of inspiration.

Lastly, Peter takes a hike through the island's hills to visit some ancient stone structures that are believed to be over 3,000 years old. These structures are thought to have been used for religious ceremonies and offer a glimpse into the island's prehistoric past.

Throughout his visit to Fournoi, Peter is struck by the island's beauty, history, and the friendliness of its people. He learns that this small island may be off the beaten path, but it offers a unique and authentic Greek experience that is truly unforgettable.
