After a tense and emotionally charged premiere episode, Next of Kin season 1 continues with episode 2, which follows the aftermath of the bombing that rocked the Shirani family's tranquil life in London. As the police begin their investigation into the terrorist attack, each member of the Shirani family is struggling to come to terms with their grief and fear, and tensions are running high.

Mona (Archie Panjabi), the main protagonist of the show, is still reeling from the shock of the explosion that claimed the life of her brother Kareem. She is desperate for answers and justice, but she is also struggling to keep her family together in the face of the tragedy. She remains convinced that there is more to Kareem's death than meets the eye, and she begins to probe deeper into his life and work in an attempt to uncover any clues that might help her understand what happened.

Meanwhile, her husband Kin (Jack Davenport) is grappling with his own demons, as he struggles to balance his responsibilities as a father and as the head of the family business. His strained relationship with Mona is put to the test as they disagree on how to handle the aftermath of the bombing, and he is also forced to confront his own prejudices and assumptions about his in-laws and their Muslim faith.

As the investigation into the bombing continues, Mona's sister-in-law Fatima (Claire Skinner) finds herself under suspicion from the police, who are convinced that her husband's business dealings may have played a role in the attack. Fatima is caught between her loyalty to her family and her own sense of guilt and responsibility, and she must navigate the complex web of relationships and alliances that make up her community.

In the midst of all this turmoil, Mona and Kin's teenage children are also struggling to come to terms with the tragedy. Their son Omar (Navin Chowdhry) is deeply affected by his uncle's death and is starting to question his own identity and beliefs, while their daughter Leyla (Viveik Kalra) is still processing her own trauma from witnessing the bombing.

Overall, episode 2 of Next of Kin is a tense and emotionally charged installment that continues to explore the themes of family, identity, and faith that were introduced in the premiere. The characters' reactions to the bombing are complex and nuanced, and the show does an excellent job of exploring the ways in which grief and fear can bring people together or drive them apart. The police investigation provides a welcome dose of intrigue and suspense, as new details about the attack begin to emerge. And as always, the performances are excellent, particularly from Archie Panjabi as the determined and passionate Mona. Fans of the show will be left eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this gripping family drama.
