Sam, Nathan and Rikki are hiking in a Pacific Northwest state pine forest when they come across Parker - an injured man who Sam thinks has fallen off his horse, the name of which Parker keeps repeating: Black Prince. Sam goes looking for the horse while Nathan and Rikki look after Parker. Out in the forest, Sam falls into a covered trapping pit and is sprayed by a skunk.
