The mouse seizes the opportunity and escapes into the backyard. Tom and Ben follow the mouse outside, where he hides behind a flowerpot. Tom tries to catch the mouse with his paws, but the mouse is too quick, and he manages to escape again.
Tom and Ben try to come up with a plan to catch the mouse, and they decide to build a mousetrap using cheese as bait. They set the trap and wait for the mouse to take the bait.
But the mouse is smarter than they think, and he avoids the trap, taking the cheese without stepping on the trap.
Tom and Ben try to corner the mouse, but he manages to avoid them and finds a hole in the fence, where he escapes into the neighbor's yard.
Tom and Ben are disappointed at their failed attempt to catch the mouse, but they are determined to keep trying. The episode ends with the mouse looking down at Tom and Ben from the other side of the fence, teasing them with a piece of cheese.
