As four young adventurers, Philip, Jack, Dinah, and Lucy-Ann, are walking along the cliffs near their home, they notice a mysterious yacht anchored in the cove below. Intrigued, they launch their rowboat and row out to investigate. Once aboard, they discover a cabin full of strange items, including a coded message in a book. Excited by the mystery, the children set out to decipher the code and investigate the yacht further.
Their efforts lead them to a remote mountain range, where they encounter a group of suspicious characters and a dangerous mountain climber. The adventurous children must use their wits and bravery to unravel the mystery and uncover the truth behind the strange happenings on the mountain.
