The Repair Shop season 1 episode 10 titled "Ceramic Bulldog" features the repair crew at their best as they tackle a string of unique restoration projects. The stunning country residence, where the workshop is located, is buzzing with excitement and anticipation as the crew begins work on a dilapidated ceramic bulldog statue.

Jay Blades, the host, introduces the crew as they get down to work on the ceramic bulldog. The statue has been passed down through generations and is steeped in sentimental value for the owners. The front left paw of the statue is broken off, and the head is cracked, making it one of the more challenging restorations the team has undertaken.

Kirsten Ramsay, the ceramic specialist, examines the statue and outlines the restoration process. She evaluates the materials used to make the statue, analyzes the cracks, and determines the appropriate adhesive to use. Kirsten notes that it will be a delicate procedure that requires precision and patience.

Kirsten begins the restoration process by mixing different colors of porcelain powder and adhesive to recreate the broken parts of the statue. She uses a magnifying glass to examine the texture and color of the original material, ensuring that the rebuild matches the remaining parts of the statue. Kirsten then uses a tiny brush and airbrush to blend the newly attached pieces with the original statue, making it impossible to detect the repair.

Meanwhile, the others pitch in to restore a Victorian nursing chair, a vintage radio, and a set of antique toy theatres. Each restoration presents its own set of challenges, and the team works diligently to bring the items back to life.

Dominic Chinea takes on the restoration of the Victorian nursing chair. The chair is covered in dirt, and the roof of the canopy is in pieces. Dominic disassembles the chair, cleans it, and rebuilds the top of the canopy using traditional methods. He meticulously sews the canopy with a needle and thread, and the end result is nothing short of stunning.

Steven Fletcher restores a vintage radio from the 1930s that has been in the family for over 40 years. The radio is in terrible condition, with missing veneer and broken wood. After discarding the old wiring, Steven replaces it with new wiring, restoring the radio to its full functionality. He works on the wooden structure, meticulously matching the new veneer with the original color of the radio.

Elsewhere, Will Kirk works on restoring an antique toy theatre set. The owner had received the set from his grandfather many years ago, which made it all the more special. The set had traveled with the owner through many countries and was in desperate need of repair. Will disassembles the set, cleans the pieces, and strengthens them with new glue. He restores the pieces of the set to their original condition.

As the team works through the day, there is a sense of satisfaction as each item gets restored to their former glory by the end of the episode. The ceramic bulldog is finally reunited with its owners, who are overcome with emotion at its restoration. Each restored item tells a piece of history as well as a beautiful story that is sure to captivate viewers.

"Ceramic Bulldog" is an episode that showcases the team's incredible talents and offers a glance at the delicate world of restoration and conservation. It is a heartwarming and satisfying finale to the first season of The Repair Shop.
